Start by knowing exactly which exam you need

The exam and level you need depend on your goal — and the level you need isn’t always the level you’re at (many permits need one level for speaking, another for writing). We start with a free assessment and build your plan around exactly what you need

Please note: requirements vary by canton and commune and can change — always confirm the final requirement with your local authority

No copy-paste course: we hear you out and adapt, so learning feels natural and calm — and your progress stays something you can measure.

Exams we prepare you for

Unsure which one applies to you? We confirm it during your assessment

Fide test — Swiss · for residence permits & citizenship

Goethe-Zertifikat — A1 – C1 · internationally recognised

Telc Deutsch — A1 – C1 · incl. telc B1+B2 Beruf

Citizenship & permit interviews — oral preparation

We also offer exam preparation for other languages required in Switzerland — French, Italian and English

Which level for which goal?

A rough guide to orient you — we confirm the exact requirement in your assessment

Goal

Typical German level

Good to know

Family reunification / first B permit

Often A1 spoken (basic)

Some cantons ask you to register for a course rather than pass an exam

Settlement (C) permit

Often A2 spoken · A1 written

Skills are assessed separately — you may need different levels for each

Swiss citizenship

Often B1 spoken · A2 written

Communes can set higher requirements and an interview

University / academic study

B2–C1

Usually a full Goethe or telc certificate at the required level

Work / profession

B1–B2 (role-dependent)

Job-focused exams (telc Beruf) may be preferred by employers

Important: these are general orientations only. Actual requirements vary by canton and commune and change over time — always confirm with your local authority. We’ll help you get it right

Marco — fide B1, C permit

“I’d been putting off the fide test for two years. Plunge told me honestly where I stood, drilled the speaking part, and I passed first time. I have my C permit now.”

Aisha — Goethe B2

“I’d failed B2 twice with another school. Here they found exactly why — my writing — and fixed it. Passed with room to spare. I only wish I’d come sooner.”

Elena — citizenship interview

“On paper I had the level, but I froze every time I had to speak. The mock interviews made the real one feel easy. I walked in calm and got my citizenship.”

FAQ

What if I don’t pass?

— We won’t put you forward for an exam we don’t think you’re ready for — that’s what the assessment and mock exams are for. If you don’t pass, we help you see exactly which part to retake and keep preparing you for it.

How long do I need before my exam date?

—  It depends on your current level and the gap to your target. Tell us your date at the assessment and we’ll give you an honest, realistic timeline — not a vague “it depends”

I keep freezing in the speaking part

— Most people do. We rehearse the exact speaking tasks and run mock interviews until responding in German feels automatic — so nerves don’t cost you the points you’ve earned

Which exam does my canton accept?

— Requirements vary by canton and commune. Tell us where you live and what you’re applying for, and we’ll help you identify the accepted exam and level — then confirm it with your authority together

My exam is very soon

— Book the assessment as early as you can. Even a short, focused sprint on the right skills and exam format can make a real difference — we’ll tell you honestly what’s achievable in the time you have

Can I prepare one-to-one instead of in a group?

— Yes. Choose a small group for momentum and practice partners, or one-to-one to move fast and focus only on your weak spots. We’ll recommend what fits your deadline
